Help for former company
One of our Theatre Arts Company members, Josh Venegas, lost his siblings and grandfather in the fiery crash that happened in Highland this week. A go fund me page has been set up for the funeral expenses of the four family members, please consider donating if you are able. T-Shirts
Beginning on Tuesday 9/13, Theatre Arts will be required toi wear their t-shirts on Tuesdays. This will help raise our visibility on campus, which should lead to more students at our shows, and it will show our support for Komedy Katz. Thank You
Drama Vocab test
We should have our multiple choice Drama Vocab test on Monday, 9/12. Study those words!! smiley
Class Production Auditions
Auditions will take place tomorrow, Friday 9/9/2016, in class. Go over your sides tonight. I am looking for you to do the following:
  • Be heard
  • Be seen
  • Have movement
  • Have different and identifiable characters

You do not need to be memorized, but it looks good.
Fundraising Info
Our Fall fundraiser began today and will run through September 7th. We will be selling David's Cookie Dough. Your student should have all the information and order forms. Cash and checks will be accpeted (make checks payable to Beattie Middle School.)

DTASC, The Drama Teachers Association of Southern California, fall festival will be held on November 5th at Royal Oak Middle School in Glendora. The festival begins at 8 am, and would last the entire day. Theatre Arts students are not required to participate but involvement is encouraged. It is a fantastic opportunity for students to perform with a meet other middle school students from across Southern California. If students are able to earn a trophy or honorable mention they will become eligible to participate in California Youth in Theatre Day, where the students will have the opportunity to perform in Sacramento for their State Representatives (we will fundraise to help off set the cost of the student's travel to and from Sacramento).
DTASC categories that students could compete in :
  • Tech Categories for Greek Theatre:
    • Set design
    • Costume/makeup design
    • Graphics/Publicity
  • Audition Monologues (one modern and one classical) (2 students)
  • Women Playwrights, straight cut (2-4 students)
  • Anything Goes for children (Target audience age 4-8 yrs old) (2-4 students)
  • Diversity (Any play, not Shakespeare, where one of the characters has something that makes him or her different from the other characters) (2-4 students)
  • Large Open Comedy (3-6 students)
  • Large Open Drama (3-6 students)
